and you have never or would never even consider

• murdering a trans* person for being trans*
• raping a trans* person for being trans*
• dehumanizing a trans* person with oppressive language (“tranny”)
• disrespecting or questioning someone’s gender identity
• attacking a trans* person for being trans*
• preventing a trans* person from getting any surgery or medical treatment they desire (and this can be done by voting for or against certain politicians and/or legislative actions)
• discriminating against a trans* person for being trans*

and you DO

• respect trans* peoples’ preferred pronouns (and if you DO screw up you correct yourself)
• support trans* rights
• support your trans* friends or family
• maintain the belief that people can do whatever they want with their own bodies
• not use oppressive language, even in jest
• treat trans* people with the same respect you’d give to a cis person

then you are not cis scum. You’re just cis, and there’s absolutely NOTHING wrong with that.

It’s really that simple.
